Curves of Philomath

Karate for Kids  

Karate for Kids has served Corvallis and the mid-Valley as a premier martial arts training resource since 2002.  Located at SW 4^th & Adams and at 1619 Main Street in Philomath, Bob and Sharon Pleu and their staff provide excellent local instruction in Taekwondo and a variety of other martial arts disciplines including Krav Maga. Our programs encourage personal discipline, respect for others and respect for authority, as well as self-respect. The training we provide promotes personal growth and builds self-confidence based on real achievement. This achievement is recognized through the belt awarded and worn by the student. And our training is not just for young people. Both youth and adults gain new life skills and new confidence from Corvallis Karate for Kids' nationally-certified teaching programs. We also participate and sponsor various educational and fun events, and we enthusiastically participate in the Kids'n'Power program to promote child safety. And our students speak for themselves regarding the quality and positive benefits of Corvallis Karate for Kids programs.

The Chamber Ambassadors were on hand for the June 25th Grand Opening of Subway.  Owner,  Dan Proulx, is a very proud OSU Graduate and lives in Keizer with his wife and twin six year old sons. The couple’s other children are grown. Dan is not new to Subway. Between Dan and his siblings, they own 10 Subway restaurants! He has hired about a dozen Philomath High School students. Subway is located at the corner of Main & 19th. Their hours are 7am until 9pm except on Sunday when  it closes at 8pm.  The drive thru is open until 10pm except Sunday when it closes at 9pm.

Applegate Door

Applegate Door Co. was formed 1978, by “Lawrie” Theurer, doing sales, service and installs of Garage Doors and Electric Openers.  At that time, the primary product was wooden garage doors.  The company has since grown and expanded its services and product line.  The residential market is now steel insulated doors, both with the traditional and carriage style design.  Applegate Door serves both the residential and commercial/industrial markets.  We do everything from pet doors to airplane hangers. 

In 1999, Applegate Door became the FIRST Accredited Door Dealer in Oregon. Currently there are 4 businesses in the state with the Certification of Accreditation by the International Door Education Association.  Lawrie has continued to achieve certification in several (6) areas of expertise.  In April, Lawrie received Automated Gate Operator Installer Certification.  We see an increase in home security with Electric Gate Openers, serving customers with residential gates, to keep livestock in or by restricting visitors.  The commercial gate opener allows for increased security for businesses, or subdivisions with higher usages, card readers, entrance and exit loops.
